Enterprise Data Management

In a multi-unit business, keeping your pricing, menus, recipes and promotions synchronized and up-to-date is essential. A single point solution that can poll, migrate, consolidate, and update these separate locations adds speed, flexibility, certainty and quality to your organization.

A component of the CatchPoint BackPlaneTM, Enterprise Data Management (EDM) is toolkit that synchronizes, polls and updates information between a central location and re-mote units. Engineered to simplify and automate data ad-ministration throughout the enterprise, EDM dramatically reduces the time and expense required in the management the information needed to run your business.

EDM is unique: it works with any POS vendor or even multi-ple vendors within your organization. As it is product-independent, EDM ensures that your data manipulation continues to occur even if you change your POS equipment or components.

Remote Configuration

Change a price across units. React to a local competitor’s promotion. Alter a recipe for regional taste. Isolate a test market and monitor sales. These are actions all completed more quickly and accurately with EDM. EDM substantially reduces manual data entry. With this forms-based system written in Java, users can make a single change to a central database, up-dating hundreds or thousands of remote locations automatically. EDM gives you the ability to create any number of remote location sets for faster changes to groups such as states, metropolitan areas, new stores, etc., all based on your business. Change data as often as you like. Updates can be made ad hoc or with an effective/termination date. This feature allows you to advance schedule roll-outs, promotions and changes. Our polling option is the same: poll your remote locations as often as you like or schedule routine reports.

Detect Inconsistent Values

EDM can detect when there are inconsistent values across locations and use broad brush rules to choose a default value. Whether it is to always accept the centralized data over the remote data, or never accept re-mote changes over centralized data, intelligent defaults insure consistency, reliability, and quality of data. Further, you may allow remote store managers to override data for certain products but not others. You can apply an effective date for a price of an item and a termination date to roll back the price of an item—creating a temporary price change.

Data Integrity

EDM enables users to share a single set of data among multiple locations, eliminating the problem of storing redundant data and significantly reducing data storage requirements. Special multi-location forms make it easy to view data from multiple sites, catch data exceptions, and then take the appropriate action. EDM also audits every change made to both central and remote databases so you can know what data was changed, who changed it and when each change was applied. This audit trail is crucial for maintaining security of re-mote location databases.

Data Access

EDM‘s Query Designer can be used to query the central database for information using simple graphical tools in place of programming language. EDM's Form Designer allows users to implement its own well-known ter-minology within the forms. Through the Form Designer, users can generate screens to suit their business-specific terms without the need for programming, thereby reducing development costs and training time while increasing operational efficiency.
